Butter is actually a healthy food with lots of benefits. Eating it can even protect you from skin cancer. Margarine, the so-called "healthy alternative," on the other hand, is more dangerous than smoking cigarettes. The trans fatty acids in it are poison to your arteries, yet most people still believe margarine is good for them.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Ay8EZQkhZ0M/TIYe1fa7xlI/AAAAAAAAACw/-3gwuSMivkE/s200/Blazing+Sun+-+1600x1200+-+ID+41250.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514128698078119506" />

> "Keep out of the sun." Statistics clearly show that people with healthy tans have 50% less breast and colon cancers than lily-whites. That's because the sun is actually good for you (it's our main source of Vitamin D, a proven cancer-fighter) Sunscreen, on the other hand, maybe causing skin cancer.

How Sunscreen Can Cause Skin Cancer:

For years we've been told to stay out of the sun and use sunscreen to avoid skin cancer. But since the invention of sunscreen years ago, skin cancer rates in the U.S. have gone up, not down. Doctors can't explain this. Nor can they explain why the incidence of skin cancer in tropical countries (where the sun's rays are the strongest) is extremely low. Sunshine isn't bad, we really need it. Besides being our main source of vitamin D, sunshine causes your body to produce melanin, our natural protector against skin cancer. it is the pigment responsible for turning your skin brown when you tan. Using sunscreen blocks the production of melanin, and deprives our skin of this protective ability. That's why skin cancer has been on the rise in U.S., despite the wide use of sunscreen.
Now scientist have uncovered another problem. Sunscreen itself may even cause cancer. Five chemicals commonly use in sunscreens have been found to behave like estrogen and stimulate tumor growth and the spread of cancer cells.

Reference:

- Alternatives Volume 29 Fall 2006

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lishael-elmie.blogspot.com/2010/09/wrong-wrong-wrong-how-many-of-these.html' title='Wrong, Wrong, Wrong... Good to be back online! I really miss facing a computer (even though it's not mine...hehe!) viewing my mails, chatting with my friends, etc. It's a very long time.

It's my second and third time here in Leyte. It's been 11 years I came back and I have met my other relatives here. They are also kind of course and hospitable. I'm glad that I meet them. There are some familiar and unfamiliar faces and it's good to be back here in Leyte. There are lots of beautiful spots here. We've been to the tallest bridge called Agas Agas bridge. It was so tall and deep under in it. It was the project of outgoing president Gloria Arroyo according to the poster.

It is very challenging here living in Leyte. I don't know why maybe the people around me or the language barrier. I can understand a bit Visayan but I also need and interpreter (hehehe!) because there are some words that I really don't understand. And also there are lots of spies roaming around in our home (what I mean is one of our neighbors here are my relatives). But thanks for my mom and my 2 aunties who helped me to translate some visayan word.

My Kitten Named "Ming".

Her mother, Mamai, comes in our home accidentally (or I can say "walked in). She's harmless, sweet and beautiful cat. We found out that she is pregnant, we gave her food and shelter of course. And then she gave birth last August with 2 little kittens, a girl and a boy. We did not know what will be their names. One time, we are watching NBA and my mom saw Yao Ming. My mom said that their names will be Yao (the male one) and Ming (the female one). Cool isn't it?

We thought Ming was the eldest and Yao is the yongest. Ming has a strong personality than Yao. She learned how to climb and eat solid foods than Yao. Ming is also very sweet and friendly. When I carry her, she stayed still and not freaked out. She followed me every time when I clean outside our house and going to the backyard, playing with the falling leaves. Her meows is so sweet and gentle unlike Yao. They're both eat eagerly especially Yao.

Yesterday before she died, we observed that she was withdrawn. We searched her in every corner in our house and I found out that she was sleeping inside our "bodega". She followed us wherever we are and even inside in our home. In the evening, we went to our bed to sleep except my brother. He was left alone watching television. Every time he was watching, the lights are out. But yesterday evening, he turned the light on. I can't sleep when the lights are on. I think my brother is afraid. But that's not it. There's something behind in it that we did not know. I can't sleep, even my mom and my youngest brother.

My mom said that around 1 or 2am, she heard that dogs are barking. Not just a normal bark, but a bark that is angry. And when the dogs are barking, she heard a meow, sounds like a kitten. Only a one meow and it is gone. My mom said that she can't really sleep that time and approached my brother who is still awake watching television that he will go to sleep. At around 5am, my youngest brother will go to school in UST and he is searching Ming. He found Ming and called her name but did not respond. He approached Ming and he found that she is lying in front of our house beside our neighbor's trash can, flat, arms and feet extended (it's like we lye in prone position, face down) and he ran to our house and said that Ming is dead. He thought that she was hit by a car and my mom was freaked out and shock. I was sleeping at the sofa because my room is under renovation and my mom said Ming is dead. I can't believed it. I was so sad about what happened. When my brother (next to me) is awake, he also can't believed it. He searched Ming at the roof, in every corner in our house. My mom said they will bury her at the backyard. When my brother held her, he found out that Ming's body had lots of saliva. There's no blood, nor puncture and my mom found out that, that was the incident that she heard that night. You know what dogs do when they approached the enemy or a thing of what they grab into their mouth (for example they grab a cloth or a stuff toy and they shake their head vigorously). That's the reason why Ming is dead.

I love dogs but I don't hate them of what they did to my little one. If the owner is kind and with pure heart, the dog is also like that. And when the owner is bad, very bad, then that will come a time that a dog will become bad. I heard it before when I was watching a "Animal Rescue" on Animal Planet. I also had a dog. He was very kind and with discipline. He died because my Godfather shot him just because my dog peed in front in their house. I felt angry of what he did to my dog.

It hurts a lot when I remembered all the memories with Ming, especially when we are on the bed, I was lying on the side she approached me, sitting beside my tummy and I tried to close my eyes and she also closed her eyes until she becomes sleepy. That was so memorable for me. When I woke up a while ago, I cried a lot every time I think about her. I don't want to see my mom that I cried for Ming. I missed her every time I feed her, cuddle her, play with her favorite toy.

Until we meet again, Ming.

Kanye West Insults Taylor Swift in Video Music Awards

This year, Kanye West picked the beginning of the Video Music Awards to deliver one of his famous rants.

The rapper stormed the stage just after the first award, for Best Female Video, was presented to Taylor Swift. He cut the teen singer off, grabbing the mic and protesting in support of Beyoncé.

"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he proclaimed as B looked on from the crowd, stunned.

During the 2007 VMAs in Las Vegas, West delivered another rant and lost his temper after he was displeased with his performance being set inside a hotel suite rather than on the show's main stage.

'Ye's rants are usually in support of his own work. He memorably took the stage at the American Music Awards in 2004, declaring he was robbed of the Best New Artist nod.

His protest against Swift, however, was not well received. West stood briefly on the stage after his comments as the crowd was silent. Audience members then began to clap in support of Swift after West left the stage.

According to reports from inside the house, once cameras cut away from the action, West flipped off the crowd and returned to his seat. Wale then said to the crowd, "You can't blame a man for speaking his mind." His words were met with boos, and Wale then said, "Kanye, I tried." During the next commercial break, Pink walked by the rapper and appeared to shake her head in disgust before security escorted her away. West remained steadfast amidst the commotion as he kissed his girlfriend Amber Rose.

Kanye West is unprofessional. He doesn't sing good. I don't like his version of "Heartless" but the "Heartless" of Kris Allen is better than Kanye. I love Taylor Swift. She sings country music. I'm not a fan of country music, but the songs of Taylor Swift are popular. We all know that there are different genres in music. Beyonce is R&B and Taylor Swift is Country Music. I hated Kanye West when he insulted her. He is very unprofessional singer. Give chance to others. When he has been interviewed and asked why did he say it to her, you know what he did? He did not say anything. His mouth is shot. I was also shock of what he did to Taylor. I feel sorry for you Kanye. I love Taylor Swift's songs than yours.

Seven Deadly Sins (Part 2)

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 220px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ay8EZQkhZ0M/SpUaLIu6bNI/AAAAAAAAABQ/LuJQR2Czgdk/s320/gluttony.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374230508961688786" />

The second deadly sin is Gluttony. Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony (Latin, gula) is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered a sin because of the excessive desire for food, or its withholding from the needy. Depending on the culture, it can be seen as either a vice or a sign of status. Where food is relatively scarce, being able to eat well might be something to take pride in (although this can also result in a moral backlash when confronted with the reality of those less fortunate). Where food is routinely plentiful, it may be considered a sign of self-control to resist the temptation to over-indulge.

The first thing comes to my mind that gluttony is also a greed... but greed to food. I did not know that this is also a sin... a deadly sin. I just knew it when I watch the history channel. But this things are true. Our food is given by God and eat it moderately. Overeating is bad and not eating is bad especially in our health. Overeating may result to obesity (of course) and it has a high risk of diabetes, heart problems, etc.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 250px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ay8EZQkhZ0M/SpUZ3XvBdOI/AAAAAAAAABI/uNUhwdbL5TA/s320/a7be89f5e7eb78f0b626453ffdfda077.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374230169391297762" />

Anorexia and Bulimia is an eating disorders... these people are very skinny. Examples are fashion models, celebrities, etc. They thought that they were healthy but it is not. I watched Tyra Banks Show last year and I saw their guests who are anorexic and bulimic. They were very skinny! They were compared to a chubby guest and Tyra ask her if the skinny model is healthy or not and she says that she is not healthy. It's true but the model denied it. There are some models who died because of this illness.

If there is a plenty of food on the table, we have to control eating it. Give it to other people or to our neighbor to share our blessings with them. =)

Seven Deadly Sins

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 155px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ay8EZQkhZ0M/Sn7gLa-e5tI/AAAAAAAAAAw/cLc9aJzOwds/s320/New+Picture.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367974292696786642" />

When I watched some of the programs of History Channel, I saw in the commercial the program about Seven Deadly Sins. I was shock about it and intrigue of what's behind it.

Seven Deadly Sins, also known as the Capital Vices or Cardinal Sins, a classification of the most objectionable vices which has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct followers concerning (immoral) fallen man's tendency to sin. It is consist of "Lust", "Gluttony", "Greed", "Sloth", "Wrath", "Envy", and "Pride".

The first topic that discuss was "Lust". The first thing in my mind when I read and heard the word "lust" is sex. Lust is thought of as excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. Giving in to lusts can lead to sexual or sociological compulsions and/or transgressions including (but not limited to) sexual addiction, fornication, adultery, bestiality, rape, perversion, and incest. In Dante's Purgatorio, the penitent walks within flames to purge himself of lustful/sexual thoughts and feelings.

It comes everyday my mind, is love same as lust? When I watch this show in History Channel, I know the answer. Love is somewhat feeling different towards your partner.. A deep feeling that cannot be explain and difficult to define. There is RESPECT, UNDERSTANDING, and CARE towards others. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the NONSEXUAL emotional closeness of familial and platonic love.

I think some people who are sex addict or people who loves only pleasure doesn't find their true love. Some says that they only find true love if they "make love" to that guy or gal. And some says that it is "in" this time. By the way, it's only their opinion. There is one incident here that there was a girl who is searching a true love. And she met the guy from the internet and they want to meet in person. And they just did. She did not expect that the guy he met looks like just her father. And he says that he will do anything just to see the girl happy by having sex with her. Whoah! I just read this situation in a magazine.

And another situation, a friend of mine who had just broke up with her boyfriend. She was very depressed because she is pregnant and the father was her boyfriend. I know that if she loves someone, she will give her everything to the guy just to make him happy. You know what happend? They maked love and after that, she found out that she's pregnant and she told to her boyfriend about her situation. There is no answer. In a few days after, the guy send a message in her cellular phone and said "One of your friends in Friendster told me that you have another man in your life."
She was shocked about it. She never introduce him to us and she knew it. That's why she suspected him that he was afraid to face his responsibility as a father, he leave her alone, depressed, and that guy has a new girl. What the heck!

Last 2008, I kept on contact with her but there is no answer. I don't know what's happening to her. She replied to me and she said that she's in the hospital because she was suffering a high fever and muscle cramps. Because of severe depression, the fetus died inside the womb. She said that her uterus is low and her life is at risk.

That's is their lesson. Don't be in a hurry of doing things like that. We all know that sex is done after marriage.

A Little Too Not Over You...

It never crossed my mind at all
That's what I tell myself
What we had has come and gone
You're better off with someone else

It's for the best I know it is but I see you
Sometimes I try to hide what I feel inside
And I turn around, you're with him now
I just can't figure it out

Tell me why you're so hard to forget
Don't remind me, I'm not over it
Tell me why I can't seem to face the truth
I'm just a little too not over you, not over you

Aren't memories supposed to fade?
What's wrong with my heart?
Shake it off, let it go
Didn't think it'd be this hard

Should be strong, movin' on but I see you
Sometimes I try to hide what I feel inside
And I turn around, you're with him now
I just can't figure it out

Tell me why you're so hard to forget
Don't remind me, I'm not over it
Tell me why I can't seem to face the truth
I'm just a little too not over you

Maybe I regret everything I said
No way to take it all back, yeah
Now I'm on my own, how I let you go
I'll never understand
I'll never understand!

Tell me why you're so hard to forget
Don't remind me, I'm not over it
Tell me why I can't seem to face the truth
I'm just a little too not over you

Tell me why you're so hard to forget
Don't remind me, I'm not over it
Tell me why I can't seem to face the truth
And I really don't know what to do
I'm just a little too not over you, not over you

---I really love this song.. It just came up to my mind the things I wanted to say and I try to fixed some words to rhyme together with my former classmate in high school and my friend. I posted it to her profile in friendster and she read it. I thought she will appreciate it. But otherwise, she wanted me to delete it to her profile comment. I felt sad about it. I just wanted to say what's inside me. Even though I will send a text message for her, I know she will not listen to me. It is really difficult to compose a poem to someone especially if he/she did not appreciate it.

I compose it for her just to realize her mistakes. My former classmate told her that she will just send us a message if she broke up with her boyfriend but when she had a relationship she will forget us to send a message. She was right though. And her other friend texted me if she also contacted me & I said often. Her friend was also disappointed to her.

My friend send a lot of messages even at the dawn when she's single. And if not, she will not do it. I think I'm not getting used to it. But it is too much! For me, if someone is in a relationship, don't forget your friend who is there & expecting you to contact them.

My Friendly Poem

I composed a poem for a friend. Are they exist?

Are secret agents exist? It comes to my mind about what I saw in movies like Die hard, Rush Hour, and any other movies that portray as a secret agent. In real life, they are still exist. But how do we know? That's why it is secret.

That's the reason why my friend and I were arguing. He told me that he is receiving death threats from his ex-girlfriend and her Aunt is a U. S. secret service soldier. According to him they are really playing dirty- they are accusing him of rapist and a drug addict and he said that it's not true. They had an intimate relationship and moments that they've been true.

Ones I read about it, I know that he is innocent and a religious man. And I know that he can't do that to his ex-gf. We just met for 2 months (I think) in a Call Center Training. And my first impression on him that he his harmless and a good man.

When he posted a bulletin in Friendster that if he dies you know who is the suspect and that is his ex-gf, I send him a message and told him that there is no such thing as secret agent. He is just frightened and if he is really innocent, he will not afraid of the death threats that he got. I told him that I will ask my friends and relatives that lives in U. S. A., and he said that he will recommend me to read a bible than believing in anybody especially to our priest.

What the heck is he talking about? I'm really disappointed about him. By the way, his religion is Born Again Christian. I'm just having a research about it and he was angry when I told it to him. Is it bad doing it? Having a research?

He did not respect my religion. He said that the priest's cermon is not based on the bible. Well, for his information, it is based on the bible. He interpreted the verse on the bible that some of the people did not understand. I told him that why don't he try to go to the mass on Sunday and listen to the word of God? He did not answer me. He said that it is my loss if I did not listen to him. Well, it is not. My brother told me that he is a loser. Of course he is. He is studying in an expensive University since high school and he did not know about Roman Catholic. In every religion, there is a secret. That's why we had to respect it.

I told him that respect my religion and I will respect his. I salute my other friends who respects the Catholic. They are Born Again Christian, Muslim, and "Inglesia ni Cristo". They know how to respect anyone esp. with other religions.

In the next few days of arguing, I did not see his name in my friend's list in Friendster. I think he deleted my name on it. So, who is now the loser?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lishael-elmie.blogspot.com/2009/07/secret-agents-are-they-exist.html' title='Secret Agents...
